I was inspired by this thread and am wondering … who are the best designers in the world? Which are the best design firms? I really don’t have a clue. I have seen this site and also this unique firm , but where exactly is a list of the best web designs and web designers the world has to offer? If you know of some designers or designs which you believe are better than all of the others, please follow the links and post them. I want to put together a great list, based on quality only

That’s an interesting thought … but my question to you would be: what’s the criteria for judging who’s the best?
Is it how nice the website looks? What’s the best use of the technologies, like Flash or AJAX, etc. …?
In my opinion “No!” – the answer should (and always be) “Did the website accomplish the goal the client required it to do!”
Did it make any sales?
Did it generate any leads?
Did it promote the productm, service or company?
Unless a website does the job it was built to do, it doesn’t matter how nice it looks: it sucks!
As an example, think of Boo.com back before the dot.com bubble burst … beautiful website, fantastic use of Flash, but … since almost all people were on dialup, it was completely unusable.

I totally agree with you Adam…but if the design is not good then i would certainly wont feel that this website is worth looking!

The thing is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are certain studios that produce visually stunning web sites that will impress other designers yet fail to generate income. Others will do the exact opositte. Which would win? Amazon, Google or a visually stunning site?

The best designer is who, have good designing qualities like creativity, color sense etc. I am visiting, if I found a design, unique, I will post it here.
